An enterprising community-based grass roots project focused on digital creation, collaboration and skills development is taking shape in central Guildford. Guildford Makerspace, located at Guildford Library already offers people of all ages and from all walks of life the chance to get hands-on experience of building and working with current and future digital technologies through a programme of fun, informative and inspirational ‘maker’ style events.

Thanks to strong local interest and the support of some key partners including Surrey County Council, the University of SurreyGuildford Borough Council and iamtheCODE for sharing their expertise and curriculum, the project is now seeking to expand and to establish a fully realised makerspace environment modelled on similar dynamic makerspace projects in the US, London and Cambridge.

To take things to the next stage and provide a space which will help inspire and equip local people with the confidence, passion and understanding to fully participate in the global digital economy of the future, we are looking for support (both ‘in kind’ and financial) from individuals and corporate partners.
